I love Buster Keaton. Have never seen anything with Arbucle in it before. Just an over grown toddler isn’t he. Have you ever been to Coney Island? I wonder what it is like now. It looks like it was an amazing place in 1917.
I think collecting is a natural part of what I do. All kinds of things find their way into my hands, but it’s vintage photographs of people in bathing suits that I most often decide to put in my pockets.
Consistent throughout these photographs is a certain optimism and vision of living for the moment that I connect with most. When people are in their bathing suits they are less constrained, more relaxed and in addition, most of these snapshots are entertaining in some manner – people burying each other in the sand, virile young men performing acrobatic stunts, beauty contests…
